what a match!!! what a show!!! I can tell no one expected the show before the match!!! It was good cricket from both team. India played really well. Specially Sachin Tendulkar. After long wait  he finally got his century of the international centuries. It is something that people can do often. Cricketers of current world can’t even think of this record. But little master did it and people will remember him a long time.

With Sachin’s contribution of 114, India reached to 289 run. That’s a very big score for and against any team.  It creates a pressure upon opponent team and makes it very difficult to chase. I must confess that I was little disappointed at this point however I didn’t lose hope.

Although there was huge pressure on Bangladesh team, but they kept their cool. After being defeated in a winning match against Pakistan, Bangladesh team played well came back in the tournament. Tamin, Jahir, Nasir, Shakib, Mushfiq everyone played well. When the match was about to slip away, Shakib came to bat. With his wonderful innings of 49 run in 31 ball changed the momentum to Bangladesh. But hopes was fading when the asking run rate was building high. Then came Mushfiq into the action. With some big shots, he restored the hopes and made everyone believe that today tigers will win. Tigers have won in this exciting match. It was really awesome show. I am feeling little sad for Sachin as his moments was destroyed by wonderful victory of Bangladesh team.

When Bangladesh wins, they win big!! I hope they will continue to will in the next match and make it to the final. And maybe win the final too. 🙂 Bangladesh team dedicated their victory to Late Manjarul Islam Rana. Rana was an awesome cricketer in the national team who died several years ago in a bike accident in this date. May Allah bless his soul.

At the end, good job tigers!!!!

N.B. Few articles from http://www.espncrickinfo.com about the match

1) Shakib, Rahim deliver incredible win

2) Tendulkar scores his 100th international century

Because of the shameful and poor performance, Bangladesh is out of the ICC World Cup 2011. Even after winning 3 of the 6 matches and having equal 6 points same as West Indies, Bangladesh could not make to the next round. Now question is who are responsible for this incidents and whom can we blame. Most of the people we will answer that members of Bangladesh team are responsible and so is the management. We all know more or less about the wrong decisions of the team management. They will be the first one to be blamed. To show my support for the national team and to enlarge the area of blaming, I took the liberty to find other parties whom can we blame. So let see who else should be blamed….

1) England:

You may ask why England should be blamed. Answer is simple. Cricket was originated from England. If England didn’t make this game, we couldn’t play it and hence we couldn’t do so badly.

2) ICC:

ICC should be blamed. Because if ICC didn’t organize the World Cup tournament, we wouldn’t play World Cup. And so we didn’t have to see those embarrassing scores.

3) Again ICC:

You already know we needed 4 wins but we had 3 wins. And these 3 wins are against Ireland, England, Netherlands. And we lost against India, West Indies, South Africa.  So you see we can only beat the “……Land”s. If there were any other ‘….land’ in Group B, we could have beat that team and make it to the second round. For your Information, only other cricket playing ‘….land’ is New Zealand and that was in Group A. If and only if, New Zealand was in group B, we sure would beat them. So it was totally ICC’s fault because they didn’t put New Zealand in Group B. It would look nice if all “….land”s were in same group. 😛

4) West Indies:

This team has beaten us. but they couldn’t beat England. West Indies made us to collapse but they couldn’t do it to England. Instead they were collapsed at the end. So West Indies should be blamed.

5) Nature

Nature is the biggest culprit . Japan was hit by massive Tsunami & Earthquake. I certainly hope that it will never happen to Bangladesh. But at least there could be some rain. Even there was rain in our neighbor country India. If there were some rain in WI & SA match, those match could have been given up and points could be distributed equally. Hence we could make it to the next round. But alas….:(

Anyway I could have found some more parties to blame but I think it’s time for some serious talk. No one in the world is responsible for someone else’s actions. Every people are responsible for his action and hence he is to be blamed.

So that was the last match of the group Stage for Bangladesh. And now it was also the match of ICC World Cup for Bangladesh. Even after winning 3 of 6 matches, Bangladesh team couldn’t make it to the quarter-final.  Team was standing on two equations for that. First victory of West Indies against England and second, Bangladesh’s victory over South Africa. From the beginning we all knew Bangladesh will not satisfy the 2nd equation. So we all depended on the first equation. But unfortunately West Indies failed us after raising our hopes. They were so close to the victory but at the last moment they collapsed.

As the first equation didn’t work out, we had to depend on the second equation and that is Bangladesh’s victory over South Africa. And again unfortunately Bangladesh lost. They didn’t just lost, they lost with greatest shame. They scored only 78 for all wickets utilizing 28 overs.

As because Bangladesh is out, I have lost interest on the World Cup.  I was so excited and I really hoped and prayed that our team will go to the quarter-final stage.  And now all those excitements are gone. I am sure there are many people like me. Everyone is disappointed because of the poor performance. People are so ashamed they don’t want to wear the cricket team’s jersey anymore.  I am not that much sporty person. But yet I bought Bangladesh team’s jersey to show my support.  But now like many people, I might not wear this jersey ever again. It is really ironic that in our own country, we feel shame to wear the jersey and show our support to the national team.

After shameful 58 & 78, in future, people will not expect much from this team. But the fact is that it is the only cricket team we got. This is the team that represents our country. So, no matter what happens, we have to support out team. And we will continue to do it. We have to remember that we are still growing. we already have achieved some achievements. I hope cricket board will take right initiatives to better in next time. Till then we hope for the best and enjoy the rest of the matches.

India is the winner of very first match of ICC World Cup 2011. Though I don’t want to acknowledge it but still this is the fact. But I have no regret for supporting Bangladesh team. They played very well. And I’m very proud for them.

It was very painful for Bangladesh team supporters to watch how Indian innings started. Sehwag and Tendulkar gaving an amzing start for India. They were creating a pressure on Bangladesh from the start. Fortunately Tendulkar was run-out by Shakib Al Hasan and which brought back hope for the tigers‘ supporters. But Sehwag survived to make sure the pressure keeps building. He playing a great innings of 175 runs. I’ll give more credit to Bangladeshi bowlers  than Sehwag. Because balling of Bangladeshi bowlers wasn’t up to the mark. None of the pacers could ball following the line and length. This is the point when I started missing Mashrafi. Also fielding was very poor. Sakib couldn’t arrange fielders in right way. As a result India scored 370 which have shaken Bangladesh team’s confidence.

Tigers had a perfect start too. They scored 51 runs just in 5 overs. Thanks to Imrul Kayes for the quick runs. But soon he had to leave the field. His out was a misfortune. After Kayes left, run rate for tigers became bit slow. After 15 overs Bangladesh scored 95 runs. And after the 50 overs, Bangladesh scored 283 runs for 9 wickets. It was a very good innings for Bangladesh. But there was only one problem. Tigers could not use the batting power play properly. They lost 3 wickets for 30 runs. Instead of collecting runs Bangladesh lost few wickets. Other than this 283/9 is a very good fighting score.

There is only one mistake, as I see,  which is the reason for tigers’ downfall. And that is “choosing to field first after winning the toss“. I don’t know why Shakib or Bangladesh team took this decision but it sure was suicidal. W G Grace once said, “When u win the toss then Bat, if in doubt, Think, then Bat, if in more doubt, consult a team-mate, then Bat”. I’m sure Bangladesh Team forgot that. Beside I don’t see any logic for choosing fielding first. At the middle of day there is no dew reason to think about. I think Bangladesh team didn’t consider that batting in floodlight is more difficult than batting in daylight. Also Mirpur Stadium was a batting pitch. So there is no point in fielding first.

If, only if, Shakib and authorities had chosen to bat first, result could be other way around. If Bangladesh could score the same 283/9  in the first innings, they could create pressure on India. Also they could take the advantage of floodlight. And ultimately tigers could start the world cup with a win. But any kind of analysis is now worthless. What happened is already happened. There is no way to change it. But this learning should guide the tigers to future decisions.

Finally I want to congratulate tigers for the match.Specially Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan, Rakibul Islam, Mahmudullah for keeping their head cool. Tigers played really well. I hope they will continue this performance in the next matches. And they will win all the matches and make us proud.

Advertisement is the language of marketing efforts. Marketers use this language to communicate with their target market. And here comes the concept of exposure, when you talk about advertisement. Exposure  of particular advertisement occurs when anyone encounters with that advertisement. The more encounter the more exposure for that advertisement. Marketers want to increase their advertisement exposure as much as possible. Captive advertising is the most popular concept to ensure advertisements’ exposure to desired target  markets.  Captive advertising is advertising that one cannot escape from. From the name you can understand that target markets are held captive when they are exposed to the advertisements.

For example, Ads on golf carts are inescapable while golfing, short of walking the whole game. Ads on grocery store carts are inescapable since the carts are necessary for the majority of shoppers, and will be seen on other carts regardless of whether or not you have one. Ads of Hotels and restaurants on Magazines given in Airways. When you are on plane you may have nothing to do. So you have to read those magazines and you will be exposed to  hotel advertisements when you do so.

In Bangladesh, captive advertisement strategy are mostly applied by mobile operators. To be more specific, Airtel and Banglalink applies this technique the most. This practice was started by Warid Telecom Bangladesh. Warid used to send two or three messages daily to its subscribers as a form of Direct message. After purchasing Warid Telecom, Bharti Airtel re-branded it as Airtel Bangladesh. Even after re-branding, Airtel kept on practicing captive advertisement strategy. Earlier it use to send two or three messages per day and now it sends more than 4 messages in a day. And now Banglalink have started using captive advertisement strategy and everyday it sends at least one message to its subscribers.

Though captive advertisement is very useful for mobile operators and  other marketers to create more exposure of their advertisement and promotion, it has always  been treated as irritation by the subscribers. As a subscriber of Both Airtel and Banglalink, let me share my experience of last few days. I woke up hearing my cell phone’s message alert tone instead of  the Alarm. I received two messages at noon, one at evening and another one when I was about to eat my dinner.

Airtel abusing the captive advertisement strategy. Marketing department of Airtel thinks they are achieving more exposure by sending more message to its subscribers. But they don’t consider that subscriber may ignore the messages when they are irritated. Thus their objective to get more exposure is not achieved.

One of the basic concept of marketing is to understand customers’ needs and demands. As a customer our need and demand to Airtel  is to stop  sending spam messages. But unfortunately mobile operators more specifically Airtel doesn’t understand that. I wish I could teach Airtel’s marketing department  personnel some basic marketing courses.
