When life gets busy

January 2012 to March 2012. Life was good during this 3 months. No office No work. Just go to university & ICMA for classes. That was nothing as it was only twice in a week. I could sleep whenever I wanted. I could wake up as much late as I wanted to be. Life was best.

But all good time has an end. For me it was March 31. On April 1st, one of my aunt ( paternal side) died. However, in the same date I got called twice. Once for an interview at trust bank and another was to join in A. Qasem & co which is a chartered accountant firm and affiliated with PwC. It was my deam to be an Chartered Accountant. So I joined in. And that is why my life got busy.

No, I am not telling that my life got busy because I joined in CA firm. There were several other things. You might know that I was attending an extra semester and North South University (NSU). As the semester was close to the end, pressure for studying was increasing. My result of first two mid term did not meet my expectation. Therefore I was studying hard for the final exam. Also I had to think about the quiz and the assignment for the course I was attending.

By now you might know that me & my friend Reaz run a joint-initiative under the name SPSS Assistant (Visit: http://www.facebook.com/spss.assistant). Till march we had no client. However we faced the pick time during the semester, I was getting lots of calls from people asking for assistance and suggestion about SPSS. We took several request and working on them. At a certain point we crossed our limit. However we were still getting calls for assistance. This time people started pushing and requesting emotionally. So we had no other choice but to take some more requests. Till now we are working on them.

Our clients were putting us on tight schedule. We could hardly manage but yet we completed what we were requested for. We had to work till late night and start again in the morning untill it was time to go office.

I mentioned earlier that I joined in A. Qasem & Co. Chartered Accountants firm. It is a full time job. I have to be present from 9:30 in the morning to till 5:00 in the afternoon. By the time I reach home, it is already post evening. last few days of the month I had start working on SPSS assistant’s project when I got back at home. I had very few time for chitchat or for facebooking. I missing my usual life.

Today I am done with my final exam at north south university. Also I don’t have  pressure to work for spss assistant. Just tonight I got time for myself. Tonight I will sleep well. But from tomorrow life will be busy again. Although I won’t have work much for spss assistant during the days left in this month, I will remain busy. I will get back in my study. I have to make up for the lost days. I have to work for fulfilling my dream.

As life goes on!!!

It has been a while since I wrote something. I may have played lazy but that is not entirely my fault. I got busy with my life and a busy man needs his rest. I know my resting period was too long. But what can I do? I am a lazy man after all. 😛

Talking about life, I returned to university for one more semester. Although I was supposed to finish my Bachelor on December, I extended it up to April. I have taken a single course in this semester and the course is about taxation. There are some reasons for extending this semester which will I tell later. Apart from the university, I am also got admitted in CMA under ICMAB. Thus life became busy.

After I finished my intern, I took some time for myself. Moreover I needed some time to complete my intern report and submit it. It took 2 weeks to submit my report. After the submission, I asked myself what to do next. More I asked, more I got confused.

I was offered a job where I did my intern. But I refused the for several reason. I will share the reasons in another blog. But one of the reasons was to join in a Chartered Accountant firm as I wanted to be an CA. I submitted my CV to some CA firms earlier. So I was waiting for their call.  Then I found one of my friend got admitted in CMA. Although I knew about it but I never considered it as an option. I did research on CA & CMA. Then I found that syllabus of both professional degrees are almost same and somewhat similar to my courses in my bachelor.  So at the end of December, I too got admitted in CMA.

While doing research on those degrees, I found that both degree contains a course on Taxation. In my bachelor I was also offered the course. However I didn’t took it. So I decided to do the course in order to understand the basics of taxation hoping that it will come in handy in future. Then I extended one more semester of my bachelor just for this taxation course. There was another reason and that was to push my CGPA little higher so that I can touch 3.50 in scale of 4.00.

After my class started at North South University, I discovered two more plus point for extending one semester. First, I got the opportunity to use the big library of my university to study CMA materials. Second, I could promote SPSS Assistant to other fellow students who are doing intern in this semester or will do in next. SPSS Assistant is a join initiative of my friend Reaz Haq and mine. Through SPSS Assistant we offer professional help in SPSS Analysis and interpretation of intern report, marketing research or any other kind of statistical research.

I got too confused after my intern. But I overcome all the confusions and took a strong decision. No matter how confused we are or how troubled we are,  We will overcome everything with time. And as long as we are alive, our life will go on…..

 

Beginning of the end…

Today was the second day of summer 2011 semester. Now I’m done with first classes of my 5 courses (though 2 of the classes were cancelled). I’m not sorry for those cancelled classes. Because I’m already happy as the semester have started.

This semester is the last semester before I go for intern. As far as I know students don’t have to study much as intern is more of practical learning. Of course students needs to write an intern report but I guess it is not that hard. So that means after I finish this semester, I’ll be free from all exams, quizzes, projects & assignments. Ultimately I’ll be free from significant part of study requirement. In other words, I don’t have to study after the semester.

This semester will end of my last 4 year’s pain. This semester will end the stress, pressure in NSU. This semester will take me to the end of the 4 year journey with NSU.  So the beginning of the semester means beginning of the end…:D I waited last 10 semesters for this moments and at last it came. I’m filled with thrill, happiness & excitement.. 😀

Finally It’s over!

It’s over! It’s over!! It’s finally over! 111 semester is finally over. I can’t really believe it’s finally over. The thought of “done with this semester” making me happy and laugh like a mad.

Starting of 111 semester was great. I took 5 courses but  there was no pressure till the second midterm exam. but then it became hard on me. Just before the April, I found that I have only 4/5 days without any kind of exam, quizzes, project submission, presentations or any kind of exams.

Exams were scheduled till 20th April. In general, semester break starts right after the final exam. But this time it wasn’t the case. I had 3 project submission & 1 case submission in consecutive days. First the MKT 412 (Service Marketing) project submission, Second BUS 401 (Business Ethics)  project submission, the MGT 489 (Strategic Management) case presentation & Finally MGT 489 Project submission. All these were scheduled from 25-29th of April.

It was really hard for me to work in 3 different projects at the same time. I can recall on 24th of April, I set in front of the PC at 6am and worked till 2am. This wasn’t just for day. Everyday I had to work till the late night during those project submission days. But finally I’m through with all those projects & presentations. Thanks to my group members for their cooperation, help & support.

As I said earlier, my very first project was of Service Marketing (MKT 412). For our project we selected Spitfire restaurant Dhaka at Gulshan 2. We visited the restaurant & had some meal. And then we did a service report on the restaurant. We were able to finish it up by 1 day. And thanks to Reaz for doing most of it. Other group members were Prottoy, Fahad, Fayeed & Fareez.

Business Ethics (BUS 401) was something different. We had to do some survey on emergency medical care of hospital  for the project. My group selected Bangladesh Medical College as it was closest hospital . We all group member went there and did some survey but most of the survey was done on phone. Zahid & Khushboo handled the project well.They dis most of the parts. All I can say that if they weren’t there, I might not be able to finish the report. My other two group members Jibon & Tanveer were there too. They also had great contribution in the project.

Finally the Strategic Management course with which I was busy during the period. Mobashra, Leon, Tonni, Nishat & Sakib was my group members. Each were unique in their own way. Sakib is the most unusual one with special ability. He is really awesome with search engine. He kept collecting kinds of projects & information related to our projects or might be helpful about the project. For this ability, we started to call him our Search Engine.

Today I, along with my BUS 401 & MGT 489 group members, resubmitted the project and ma’am accepted it. That means we are done with all our projects & presentations. And that means our semester break finally came. Everyone is already enjoying the break but till today we were busy with projects. But now we are free too.

Ending of the semester means it’s time for grade. I got only one grade of my five courses. I’m waiting to find out what my grades will be. I certainly have high expectations about the grade as I give the most effort in my whole university life during this semester.

And one thing is my MGT489 grade will be greatly contributed by Mobashra. She called me at the midnight and make me study 14 cases. Not just that, she also made to understood all the cases. And that was great help for next day’s exam. She also helped me & provided mental support throughout the semester. But I really feel sad just thinking that she won’t be with me from next semester. She won’t be around in the campus. Because she will be doing her intern in the upcoming semester. Don’t know how to put in words but I’ll miss her.

So I’m done with 111 semester. Now it’s time to take some rest. And the first plan is to sleep all day long. Tomorrow I’m going to execute the plan. Close to the end!

I can’t remember when is the last time I published a post. There had been a huge gap in my writing. The reason in obvious. It’s none other than North South University (NSU). In my earliest posts I might have said that “having busiest semester” or “having the greatest amount of pressure”. But those are nothing compared to this semester. This semester is the most hectic semester I have faced at NSU.

With Service Marketing, Business Ethics, Strategic Management, Finance and Sociology course, I designed this semester. From the day I planned the courses to take, I knew that I’ll be under stream roller throughout the semester. Because I have to submit a term paper in each of this course. more over there are multiple presentations & case solving activities in each course.

I managed to pull things off till the 2nd mid-term exam. But from the beginning of this April, thing became more harder on me. I got only 5 days break in my schedule throughout the month. But the semester is very close to the end. Today is the last class of the semester. Final exam will start soon (though some faculties already started to take final exam). by 25 everyone will be done with their final exam. I have seen few friends who are planning to go on vacation right after their exam is finished. But even though I will be done with final exam by 20th April, my semester will not end. I will have to be work on 3 projects (MKT412, BUS401, MGT489) and then presentation through 25th to 29th. And then again make the corrections in the term paper and re-submit it. I won’t be able to escape from this pressure before the 30th April.

Each day passes make me happy to think semester is close to the end. But at the same time it make me feel bad. Because this semester is the last semester at NSU for some of my friends. Mobashra is one of them. It feels really hard to think that we won’t have any classes together, or hang around in the campus together. Most of all we won’t be able to see each other again regularly. They will get busy leading their life, I’ll be with mine. Well, this is how our life works. But I’m sure that our friendship will remain unchanged, and remain forever.
